Duet

one of my first cracks at poetry

 20/2/86

Duet

I’ve got 10 pounds in my pocket

Well why don’t you buy a screeching rocket

I’d rather buy a Catherine wheel

Set it a light and it will be a squeal

But I might get a Sam Fox poster

Or for my mam a Philips toaster

But what a bought a spectrum game

Most of them are just the same

I know I might get a record or a single

Now why don’t you just make up your mind

There must be something I can find

I know you should put it in Yorkshire bank

And go and see a film from RANK

I hope it will build up in interest

Then there will be a bigger invest

This is the end of an advertising poem
